A devastating car accident in Dallas recently put four people in the hospital, though the only good news is that the youngest of them — a 1-year-old — was deemed not to have any injuries at the children’s hospital.
The accident happened, according to police, when a 19-year-old driver blew through a red light without stopping. Reports also claim that the driver was speeding at the time, so that may have contributed. This all happened right around 9:00 p.m. on May 18.
As the teen went through the light, they crashed into a pickup truck with a young family inside. The driver was a 20-year-old, though it is unclear if it was the father or the mother of the 1-year-old. Regardless, both parents were in the truck.
After the crash, that pickup burst into flames with the family still trapped inside. Witnesses who had seen the crash raced over and got all three of them out. The parents were taken to Baylor Hospital to get treatment for their injuries.
In the other car, the teen who had run the light was also badly injured. While local reports did not disclose whether the driver was male or female, the reports did state he or she was rushed to Parkland Hospital. Though their condition was noted as critical at the time, news reports did also say that the driver was recovering from those injuries.
One mistake on the road is enough to cause a serious accident. For the innocent parties involved, life can change so quickly. Those who get injured and find themselves facing high medical bills and other costs, including lost wages and pain and suffering, need to know if they have a right to compensation.
