A problem of visibility
The reason that the color of the car matters is the same reason that it is wise for motorcyclists to buy hi-visibility jackets, helmets or bikes. The bright colors make the motorcyclist more visible, meaning the other drivers will see them and avoid mistakes that may cause a crash. An example of this is a car turning left in front of a motorcycle.
These types of mistakes do happen less often regarding larger motor vehicles, such as passenger cars, simply because they are already more visible due to their increased size. But buying a car with a color that is deliberately more visible against the pavement and the background can add just one more element of safety to your daily commute.
